Crypto in USD
Digital assets are quoted against the dollar on hundreds of venues at once. Understanding where a number comes from matters more than the number itself.
Live data connection required
RateUSD does not display live cryptocurrency prices yet. A market-data provider must be connected before BTC, ETH and other digital-asset quotes appear here. Until then this page is reference material only.
There is no single crypto price
Unlike central-bank reference rates, crypto has no official fixing. Each exchange runs its own order book, so the same asset can trade at slightly different dollar prices at the same instant. Aggregators publish a volume-weighted average across selected venues, which is an estimate, not an authority.
Why quotes differ
- Different venue sets and weighting methods
- Stablecoin pairs (USDT, USDC) versus true fiat USD pairs
- Regional premiums where local access to dollars is restricted
- Latency: crypto trades 24/7 and prices move between refreshes
How this compares to fiat rates
Fiat currency pages on RateUSD use published reference rates with a known publisher and a known publication time. That transparency is the reason those pages state the source on every screen. Any future crypto data will carry the same labelling. Browse fiat currencies.
